Hi guys! I know it's been more than a year since I released my last collection of poems. I've grown a bit so does my thoughts and point of view. I see life now in different perspectives and layers. Finally, I am so proud and excited to announce the releasing of my new - fourth collection poems entitled 'Rose-Colored Boy' coming on 17.07.17.
For those who just tuned in, hi, my name is Rossyam Hadi, from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I like to write anything that my voice couldn't speak out, you can read my writing in my older post. I started this blog on December 25th 2013 and I never stopped writing for this blog since then. Thank you for those who supported me and this blog since the beginning, I really appreciated it.
Now, before I serve you the full collection, I will take you to behind the scene in making my fourth collection of poems 'Rose-Colored Boy.'
Rose-Colored Boy is my fourth collection of poems followed by December, Heartfelt and All Of You. I think this is the most personal collection of poems from me so far. I started to write for Rose-Colored Boy since January 2016. Actually I wanted to release this collection on January with the titled After Tonight but I took it back because when it complete, I feel that After Tonight is kinda like a rush and the whole content kinda mellow to me. It almost the same as my last collection All Of You.
So I restarted again to write more meaningful poems instead of just a simple cliche love poems. I mean I do love to write love poems but for this collection I want to show my creativity and diversity as a writer. But I do saved some good poems from After Tonight which is The Beach And You, Luminary Tales, Japan, Train, Lost and I Remember You that ended up in Rose-Colored Boy.
Rose-Colored Boy contains 12 new poems written by me which includes all the single poems; Luminary Tales, Japan, The Beach And You and Black Hole that is available for you to read now in this blog.
I came up with the titled Rose-Colored Boy because during the process in making this collection, I struggled a bit with my personal life. I deal with anxiety, insecurity and also facing some personal problems. I really like the term "Put your rose-colored glasses on" as it said that we should always be optimistic and positive in our life even when life throws you shit, you just have to look at the bright side because everything happens for a reason right? I hope with this collection, I can be the Rose-Colored Boy, the boy who always sees life in the most possible positives way. And I also hope that you guys can be the same.
By writing Rose-Colored Boy, it's kinda like an escape for me, my mind and my soul away from the negativity that are happening around me. I also write some double-meaning poems such as Luminary Tales, Japan and Work Of Art.
Luminary Tales is about how nowadays we are over-obsessing with the celebrity as we want to become just like them and how big their bad influences to young people. Japan talks about not all the Japanese people are nice, kind and polite. Japan has a lot of dark secrets, just go research and study about them in currently and their past. Lastly, Work Of Art is about parents nowadays are turning their children into a thing to served the hungry internet. Uploading lots of photos and videos of their kids on the internet, exposing them to the virtual world instead of keeping them away from the media because we know how bad it is.
Besides that, this collection also contains two based-on-themed-poems that is The Beach And You inspired by the beach and Black Hole inspired by the outer space. Both of it are love poems.
Furthermore, it does included a few sad poems or the ballads in this collection that is Capricious, Lost and Pineapple. Moreover, two classic sweet love poems; Train and I Remember You and lastly the two most personal poems; Is Always Rosy and Green Light.
I love all of the 12 poems because I chose the best 12 out of 35 poems that I wrote for this collection. But if you asked which one is my favorite, I really like how Green Light could be such an empowered poem and I think Lost is the best breakup poem that I ever wrote.
I can't wait to share the whole collection with you on 17.07.17! And it's not too late to wish Happy Eid Mubarak to all my Muslims reader and I love you guys so much even thought we don't know each other but I hope that I can connect with you guys through the feelings that I put into words in my poems :)
Love,
Rossyam.
